MRC's 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF INVENTION OF MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES CO-SPONSORED BY SPI
SPI has been representing Great Britain's Medical Research Council (MRC) in the Japanese market since 1988.

Last July 13 in London's QE II Conference Centre, a conference was held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the invention of monoclonal antibodies, one of the most revolutionary key technologies in biotechnology in the 20th century. At the one-day conference organized by MRC, SPI had the honor to co-host it along with other co-sponsors including Cambridge Antibody Technology, Abgenix and MedImmune, as well as to have an exhibition at the site. The conference invited such distinguished lecturers as MRC's Dr. Milstein ( Nobel prize winner for inventions on monoclonal antibody technology), Lord Sainsbury of Turville (Britain's Minister for Science, Department of Trade and Industry) and Dr. Greg Winter, and was chaired by the CEO of MRC, Sir George Radda.

Some 250 participants, mainly from Great Britain, included world-class biomedical researchers (including two-time Nobel prize winner Dr. Sanger) and members from the industry. The conference's pamphlet contained SPI's logo with our Website address, the information package for attendants included a copy of our latest corporate brochure and thanks to our booth attended by 3 staff members from SPI and its sister company Sumitomo Corp. Europe, we had the opportunity to make SPI's uniqueness known to Great Britain's and Europe's Biomedical worlds.
